🎧 DJing: A Fun Pathway to Digital Literacy

Who would have thought that DJing could play such a powerful role in youth development?

At The Father’s Heart, we’ve discovered that DJing is more than just mixing music — it’s an engaging and practical way to introduce young people to digital literacy. Just like coding, graphic design, or video editing, DJing builds essential digital skills, but it does so through the universal language of music.

Why DJing Matters

By learning to DJ, our students aren’t only having fun; they are also developing a surprising range of 21st-century skills that prepare them for the future:

  • Technical & Digital Skills – operating software, managing music libraries, and integrating digital tools.

  • Creativity & Problem-Solving – experimenting with sound, loops, and transitions.

  • Information & Media Literacy – understanding copyright, responsible sourcing, and content curation.

  • Critical Thinking & Analysis – reading waveforms, timing beats, and analysing data.

  • Collaboration & Communication – performing for peers and sharing mixes.

  • Entrepreneurial & Career Readiness – creating content, building an online presence, and exploring creative industries.

  • Confidence & Identity – expressing themselves in positive and empowering ways.

  • Bringing Music Into Learning

Thanks to the leadership of our CEO, affectionately known as Uncle Mike, DJing has become a vibrant part of our Digital Literacy Classes. It’s a fun, innovative approach that makes technology more accessible while empowering our youth with confidence and creativity.

How You Can Help

We are currently seeking sponsors and partners to equip our young DJs with controllers and headphones. Your support will enable us to grow this exciting program and give more students the opportunity to explore technology through music.

👉 If you would like to partner with us or support our Digital Literacy Program, please get in touch. Together, we can transform, restore, and empower the next generation.

Celebrating Women’s Month: Partnering for Health and Wellness

This past Saturday, The Father’s Heart had the privilege of collaborating with Beth Rapha and I Love Boobies to host a special Women’s Month event dedicated to raising awareness about breast care and overall wellness. 💗

The day was filled with meaningful conversations, education, and support—all with the shared goal of reminding women in our community to prioritise their health and well-being. 🌷

One of the highlights was the presence of I Love Boobies, who not only educated our ladies but also provided:

  • Free clinical screenings,

  • Care packs, and

  • Bras to women who may not otherwise have access to these vital resources. 🙌

We are also incredibly grateful to our partners who made this day possible:
💗 Beth Rapha – for sponsoring refreshments and joining hands with us to make this event a reality.
💗 Kolisi Foundation – for the Power2You packs, designed to empower women with practical tools and resources.

Events like these are a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when organisations come together with a shared purpose. Together, we can break down barriers to healthcare access while celebrating and supporting the women who form the backbone of our communities.

To every woman we had the honour of serving this Women’s Month—you are valued, you are loved, and your well-being matters. 🌸

Mr & Mrs Curro Give Back

The Mr & Mrs Curro Ambassodors selected our organisation as their charity of choice and collected items from each grade that will be used for our Currency Program. We are truly touched by the generosity and heart shown by your Mr & Ms Curro Ambassadors, your learners, teachers, and guardians. Your donations and the time you spent with our children in Fisantekraal have left a lasting impact.

This was more than just a Mandela Day handover—it was a moment of connection, compassion, and shared humanity. The stories exchanged and the bonds formed remind us that when communities come together, lives are transformed.

From all of us at The Father’s Heart, thank you for honouring Madiba’s legacy with such love and purpose. We are grateful for this partnership and look forward to building on it in the future.

Driving Change: The Father’s Heart Benefits from Just Property Prosper Charity Golf Day

In May, The Father’s Heart Community Development had the honour of being the official beneficiary of the Just Property Prosper Annual Charity Golf Day—an event where every swing carried both heart and purpose.

The day brought together an inspiring mix of golf enthusiasts, renewable energy leaders, local businesses, and community champions, all united by a shared mission to make a difference. The fairways were filled with camaraderie, laughter, and meaningful connections, creating an atmosphere as uplifting as it was competitive.

Thanks to the generosity of attendees and sponsors, the event raised essential funds to support our ongoing work in transforming the lives of orphan and vulnerable families in our care in Fisantekraal.

We extend our deepest gratitude to:

  • Just Property Prosper – our main event sponsor, for making the day possible.

  • Wet hole sponsors – Impower Pty Ltd, Solar MD, and Heyns and Partners Inc & Dynamic Property Rentals– whose support added energy, fun, and generosity to the occasion.

A special shoutout also goes to our MC, PG Engelbrecht, for keeping spirits high and the laughs coming during the prize-giving ceremony.

Thank you to everyone who participated, sponsored, donated, and cheered us on. Every rand raised is helping to provide education, care and psychosocial support to the most vulnerable. Thank you for giving us a mulligan, so we can help shape better futures for the children of Fisantekraal.

Supporting Overall Health & Wellness at The Father’s Heart

We believe that true transformation starts from the inside out—which is why health and wellness are a key focus in our work with both parents and children.

This month, we are thrilled to welcome Shaun Waso, Founder of 16-Hrs For Life, who will be leading a 12-week wellness program for a group of our committed adult participants. Shaun brings years of expertise in guiding people toward healthier lifestyles, and we are excited to see the impact his program will have.

The program is designed to:

  • Improve overall health and vitality

  • Boost energy levels

  • Support weight loss

  • Help manage blood glucose levels

  • Normalize blood pressure

Participants will follow a holistic approach that includes wholesome nutrition, intermittent fasting, group accountability, and one-on-one mentorship. This combination not only addresses physical health but also empowers individuals with the knowledge and support they need to make lasting lifestyle changes.

By equipping our parents with the tools to live healthier lives, we’re also creating a ripple effect—stronger, healthier parents mean stronger, healthier families.

We look forward to celebrating the progress over the next 12 weeks and seeing how these changes will continue to benefit our participants in the years to come. ❤️

Connecting Through Sport: A Day with Athletes in Action

We had the privilege of welcoming another incredible group of volunteers from Athletes in Action, visiting from both the United States and South Africa. Their energy, passion, and love for sport brought a day of pure joy to our online students.

The afternoon was filled with soccer, rugby, dancing, singing, and—most importantly—genuine connection. Beyond the games and activities, our students had the chance to build friendships, share laughter, and experience the power of community both on and off the field.

Outings outside of Fisantekraal are always a special treat for our learners, and this one was no exception. The experience was thoroughly enjoyed by all, and the bonds formed will be remembered long after the final whistle blew.

A heartfelt thank you to Athletes in Action for investing your time, skills, and hearts into our youth once again—you have truly made an impact.

We also extend our gratitude to Fives Futbol Pinehurst for providing a special rate and allowing us to make use of your facilities. Your support plays a big role in making days like this possible.

Together, we’re not just playing games—we’re building confidence, creating memories, and inspiring hope for the future.
